3 Rs….Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

Here are some quick tips you and/or your family can live by to reduce, reuse and recycle.  These are simple changes and many of them can also save money, which is a huge plus in today’s questionable economy.

REDUCE

  • Pay your bills online.  Why waste envelopes and pay extra for stamps?
  • Use reusable bags for your lunch vs paper bags.  You can buy reusable bags for as low as $1 each!
  • Buy products in bulk to reduce waste (i.e. toilet paper, paper towels, etc).
  • Send birthday and holiday cards online.
  • Use washable cloth napkins rather than paper napkins.
  • Always keep reusable bags in your car for grocery or farmer’s marketing shopping
  • Put up an erasable note board for your to do list rather than using paper.

REUSE

  • Reuse envelopes and boxes for mailing.
  • Reuse paper that has writing on one side as scratch paper.
  • Buy an aluminum water bottle to use again and again vs plastic bottles.

RECYCLE

Use your curbside bin for the following items:

  • White and colored paper (can be shredded)
  • Newspaper
  • Magazines
  • Catalogues
  • Paperback Books

  • Nonmetallic Wrapping Paper
  • Aluminum Cans
  • Metal Food Trays
  • Glass Bottles
  • Glass Jars
  • #1 and #2 Containers (i.e. milk, water, detergent, shampoo, yogurt, etc)
