3 Rs….Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
Here are some quick tips you and/or your family can live by to reduce, reuse and recycle. These are simple changes and many of them can also save money, which is a huge plus in today’s questionable economy.
REDUCE
- Pay your bills online. Why waste envelopes and pay extra for stamps?
- Use reusable bags for your lunch vs paper bags. You can buy reusable bags for as low as $1 each!
- Buy products in bulk to reduce waste (i.e. toilet paper, paper towels, etc).
- Send birthday and holiday cards online.
- Use washable cloth napkins rather than paper napkins.
- Always keep reusable bags in your car for grocery or farmer’s marketing shopping
- Put up an erasable note board for your to do list rather than using paper.
REUSE
- Reuse envelopes and boxes for mailing.
- Reuse paper that has writing on one side as scratch paper.
- Buy an aluminum water bottle to use again and again vs plastic bottles.
RECYCLE
Use your curbside bin for the following items:
- White and colored paper (can be shredded)
- Newspaper
- Magazines
- Catalogues
- Paperback Books
- Paperboard (i.e. cracker boxes)
- Egg Cartons
- Nonmetallic Wrapping Paper
- Aluminum Cans
- Metal Food Trays
- Glass Bottles
- Glass Jars
- #1 and #2 Containers (i.e. milk, water, detergent, shampoo, yogurt, etc)
